Final Giveaway Week...

Its hard to believe that the summer is just about over and kids are returning to school. Summer zipped by and the Halloween season is in full swing with costume orders. I love this time of the year but it does get pretty busy and hectic for me. We have enjoyed doing a giveaway a week all summer long and so to finish the summer we have an adorable set up for grabs.

Giveaway week of August 9th thru Sunday 15th

Well as the summer comes to a close we will only have a few more weekly giveaways BUT

we will still do specials and giveaways once a month or so. It's been fun and this week I decided to change it up to a bright and fun tutu before the last few giveaways (which are Halloween sets!!)

Our cupcake splash Tutu was created to match a 1st Birthday set that Target offers online

one of my good friends was having her little girls party done in this theme so I took the napkin and created.. then of course asked my friend Kerry to make an adorable set of bloomers to match...

The tutu features red - purple - yellow - and teal.. so quite a different mix of colors its finished with a red bow. Last week we asked you to submit ideas for either a witch tutu or fairy tutu - to complete the look we said we would include a pair of wings and/or witch hat to match for the winner ~ the winning person gets their look created for them (within the limits of our supplies on hand). So I look forward to creating a set for each of these winners based on the idea they presented with what I am able to do!

My second idea would be a rainbow sherbet fairy. Tutu with lemon and a hint of hot pink and citrus tulle. Tutu could also be embellished with ribbons in those colors as well. Wings in lemon with some sparkle in them.

Idea - My favorite flower is the Stargazer Lily so I would base a Lily Fairy on this - the tutu would have dusty rose tulle and white for the petals. Maybe a few lemon pieces for the stamen and depth. Pink wings and of course of lily on a headband.

Week of July 26th Giveaway..

We only have a few more weeks of our summer giveaways .. and I changed the day to announce them on .. Friday was such a hard day for me (busy wise) to get things going ... so I took this week to change the day of the week we will announce our giveaway on ...

So starting this week the giveaways will always start on the MONDAY of the week .. and finish on the Sunday evenings at 11:59 pm CST. Again, like on Friday's the time we post the giveaway will vary (please keep in mind that I work sometimes in the day and sometimes in the evening to accomodate my kiddies schedules and my college helpers school schedule... so I won't guarantee a post by 8 am every Monday or announcing the winner by that day on the noon ... but it will be done every Monday ...).

Lets design a witch for...

I know you have probably been waiting all day for me to post the winner for the Design a witch tutu giveaway we did this week! I am a little behind on things this week and today, because a few days ago one of my kids broke out... what started as a few spots on the face evolved to spots all over and a chicken pox diagnosis. They "say" if you get this and you have had the vaccine it "should" be milder, well his face is absolutely covered and all the rest of his body. So my 3 yr old is a little miserable and this is also preventing me from getting into my studio as much as I normally do (dont worry its a NO chicken pox zone!!). Anyway it shouldnt affect make times .. they may be at the longer end of the range for the next week or two ..but since we can't go anywhere I'll probably try and work in the studio some extra this weekend to help with the work time I am missing to snuggle with the unhappy boy. Just hoping my 7 mth old doesn't show up with this (he isn't old enough for the vaccine) ... and hopefully it will skip Hannah. We have laughed and said our luck will be on day 8 of Mr C's another child will start with it, then on day 8 of that just when we think we can escape to public again another child will get it.

So needless to say I am normally answering replys right away and have been a little ahead of the make time but this unexpected sickness is slowing me down a little.

I definetly had fun reading all the witch ideas.. many were elaborate the giveaway was for a custom witch tutu you pick the colors and ribbons ideas (so there were many ideas that went into more detail with extras that I just don't keep around so if your idea is choosen the tutu will be made as close to the idea within the parameters of what we have supply wise and what the giveaway stated as far as design (you pick colors and we do the ribbons) also many gave elaborate design ideas for the witches hats again I'll try and make as close for the winner but the giveaway does state it will be made to match the tutu colors with our fancy look that we normally do so some things I will not be able to do with the supplies we keep at hand... just wanted to mention since there were definetly some amazing ideas but Halloween supplies are so hard to keep in stock that every year I decide on specific designs/items to offer and thats what I offer .. with living 30-45 + minutes from most stores I don't always have the luxury to special shop for designs (like I used to) now that I have 3 little ones and work this business full time... so I hope the winner will love what I design based on their idea posted).

I make it no secret that I LOVE Halloween ... me and my kids are already talking on a possible family costume .. one child likes to say we will be the Incredibles ... I am not opposed but I certaintly have a hard time envisioning me and my husband wearing a unitard for the evening.. one wants us to be all Star Wars people .. another the characters from Yo Gabba Gabba.. I am undecided last year we waited until the last minute and I was putting together the final touches for my husbands Scarecrow costume and my mean witch (I was VERY pregnant and a witches dress was about the only costume easier enough to accomodate my large belly) on Halloween day.. Happy Birthday Hannah!!

Today my little girl Hannah turns 5! Over the past year I have watched her become more independent and her pictures no longer show that little toddler but a bigger girl. She starts Kindergarten in the fall and we gave her a taste of it this summer (upon her request) when she attended the summer session in June.. she loved it .. I did fine the 1st day until I got in my vehicle and was driving out of the school parking lot and started to think .. what if she forgets where the bathroom is, what if she falls in the play ground .. of course the noises of 2 little boys in the back of the van interupted all the what if's and I realized my little girl is growing up.

This day 5 years ago I was getting ready to have a csection I was not quite 36 weeks along and me and my husband decided not to tell anyone that my doctor was delivering that day (until after she was born). Hannah Marie arrived just as cute as can be with a head full of dark hair at 7 lbs 7 oz. She's the reason my business started and when I started it years ago I would of never imagined it would grow like it has into a fulltime job. I am thankful every day for my little girl and for how my business has allowed me to stay home and work around my 3 little one's ..

So get ready for a week of Birthday Fun ... to celebrate Hannah's Birthday and to Thank all my wonderful customers.. starting tomorrow we will have some fun giveaways & coupon code specials.

Well I better go get ready, my little girl has asked me to take the morning off and go look at bedroom & bathroom decor for her .. and to go to Olive Garden for lunch. So I plan to take the morning/early afternoon off and enjoy this time with Ms. Hannah!

{TUTU PHOTOGRAPHER FEATURE} Miklus Photography located in Virginia

This week'd feature photographer I met through a very good mutual friend of ours, Chris. Our sweet friend, Chris that did many of my photos passed away earlier this year after battling cancer for years. She is missed by so many, but she also brought many people together through her friendships with many many fellow photographers. Just a week or two ago Karen posted a picture that I loved and we both had to comment on how it reminded us of our friend Chris and a picture she would of taken. So I am pleased to feature Karen of Miklus Photography this week. I love looking at the fabulous pictures she takes and she's been a customer of mine for several years.

How did you find yourself in photography?
I've grown up around photography. My uncle is an amazing photojournalist
and he was always taking pictures of his nieces and nephews as we grew
up. As an adult I look back at the images he took of family members and
it strikes me at how he didn't just take a picture, he captured the
essence of his subjects. You could look into that image and be
instantly transported back to the time and place that image was taken;
even though that person was no longer with us, because of that image you
could still feel them. I wanted to do that too. I wanted to capture
memories, snippets of my life so that I could go back and remember a
time that had already passed. I started with shooting places I visited
and then began shooting the children in the family, including my own.
Showing the relationship between my daughter and all her cousins was
very important to me. As an elementary school teacher, I loved
photographing my students interacting with each other. After the birth
of my second daughter, my husband encouraged me to merge my love of
children with my love of photography. I became hooked! Here I could do
what I loved...playing and interacting with children. I could spend my
time capturing those precious moments in time and preserve so that one
day their parents could look back and "feel" that time again and again.

What is your specialty?

My specialty is children and maternity. Maternity images are so
magical, invoking strong emotion. I love documenting that special
miracle taking place within a woman and helping her to feel as beautiful
as she truly is. Children are just wonderful to work with! I love
spending my time playing with them and capturing that special smile or
look that is the essence of that child...the look that makes mom say,
"That's my baby." When I get that response, I am thrilled because to
me, that's what it's all about.

Do you prefer to shoot indoors or out?
I love the control that I have working in my studio...I'm comfortable
there. However, I love the excitement and spontaneity of an outdoor
shoot. Allowing children to just be themselves in an outdoor
environment is so much fun for me...I can really see their personalities
shine. I love finding the perfect setting to create a really original
image fitting to the subjects personality and I love the sparkle that
natural light creates...it's beautiful and the colors are amazing!


Do you have any tips for aspiring photographers?

Keep shooting! If you love photography the best way to learn and grow
is to keep on shooting. We are our own toughest critics, but don't be
afraid to push yourself to try new things and to keep improving.


What do you like about Hannah's Tutu's?

What's not to love about Hannah's Tutu's! The colors and designs are
wonderful! Looking at Hannah's Tutu's is like a child looking through
the window of a candy store where each colorful treat looks more
delectable than the next!
The quality cannot be beat...they are so well made and lux...no other
tutu's can compare.
Last, but not least.....Lisa's customer service is wonderful...she works
hard to provide her clients with outstanding customer service and it is
very much appreciated ;)
